Two Ways to Volunteer

Usher for Events

Usher for Events

The Opera House utilizes volunteers to serve as ushers for many events. All volunteers are required to complete an orientation / training session to learn about guest service policies, to familiarize themselves with the facility and to review the Usher Handbook. Orientation Sessions last approximately 90 minutes are scheduled at the Opera House periodically. Ushers who wish to work a Broadway Live event are required to also work at three non-Broadway shows during the season.

Our 2009-10 usher staff is full. The next orientation will take place in late summer of 2010.

Some basic requirements of our ushers include:

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk stairs, sometimes in dim light
  • Greeting and assisting patrons with a smile!
  • Age 18 years and older are invited to participate. (16- and 17-year-olds may be approved, with two letters of reference from teachers or employers.)

For more information, or to register for the next orientation contact Operations Manager Tom Habermann (859-233-4567 x3289) or email: thabermann@lexingtoncenter.com
